Globalise Resistance Train

[en]Reports just in are that the Globalise Resistance train which was cancelled yesterday by the SNCF, has just been given the go ahead after pressure had been applied by the French Rail Trade Unions. Railway company SCNF was told that they must cancel the train following a high level meeting between the Italian authorities and Jean-Claude Gayssot, the French Minister of Transport. The train had been paid for and was perfectly legal. However the train is now expected in Genoa on Thursday night and there are now spaces available on the train as some who had tickets decided to find alternative transport.

All the best wishes from activists in Norway. Too bad we couldn't be there!

Stay alert, stay focused, stay peaceful! Remember, if we're to get the people on our side, that's the answer!

and if the police attack, run like hell...I've seen some pictures from Genoa, and it doesn't look good...

keep it up!

andreas

Yeah, that'll show em' not to try and crush resistance to global elites. I can just imagine Bush's shit scared face as people turn and run terrorfied from the police, I'd hate to be him when that happens. <sarchasm off>

Seriously, have you considered that what will keep people on side is proof that we can hold our own against oppression, and therefore not require that people who join the movement must be ready to be beaten senseless (only for the benifit of a 20 second media blip)? Seriously have you considered this!

Solidarity
by niamh Sunday, Jul. 22, 2001 at 6:05 PM mail:

It is important to stress the reason the train has gone ahead and not been cancelled. Tht French workers in the french railway union called the french prime minister a capitalist lackey to Berlisconi - this meant that the French government caved in and sent an e-mail to Globilise Resitance in London saying the train was back on. This is a significant victory for anti- capitalists and show what happens when theyoung people and the trade unionists untie together - just like the turtles and the trade unionists in Seattle and Quebec. Resistance! The workers united will never be defeated !
