One page commentary on strategy and violence.
As you read these comments and updates and discuss the situation with others, please keep in mind the difference between property destruction and violence! A system that values property over human life will not be brought down by people hurting each other -- in fact that's what it feeds on. We don't all agree on whether "fucking their shit up" is worthwhile, but we should keep our motives in mind when considering tactical options. |

I find your comments regarding police to be uninformed and just plain rude. The police are people too, I know this because my father spent 30 years in the RCMP. He helped put killers and rapists behind bars. He helped to make the communities that we lived in safer places to live. I've just completed my degree and I am in the recruiting process for multiple police agencies because I believe that I can make a positive contribution to society. Remember that the police are doing their jobs. It is up to the police to protect life and property and keep the community safe. Was it fair that protest groups keep honest people from working or keeping their buisinesses open during these variuos events (G8, Summit of the Americas, etc). As a person who has lived in Alberta (home of 2002 G8) for 23 years out of a total of 24, I can honestly say that most people here feel that protests will be unwelcome in K-Country. So you better watch out for the RCMP and the Armed Forces whose primary mission will be to make sure that the environment won't be trashed. |
