MILAN (AFX) - The state-owned broadcaster RAI is in favour of merging its broadcasting infrastructure with Mediaset SpA and Telecom Italia Media SpA's networks, the daily MF said, citing RAI board member Carlo Rognoni.

Rognoni added that the capital of the company controlling the broadcasting network could be opened to foreign investors.

Abertis Infraestructuras SA of Spain, Telediffusion France and the UK's National Grid could be interested in investing in the company, which could have an enterprise value of at least 2 bln eur, the newspaper said.

Communications minister Paolo Gentiloni finds the project appealling but does not want to prompt the companies involved, MF said, adding that some Mediaset managers are reluctant to surrender control over the group's broadcasting facilities.
