by agaragar Friday, Dec. 20, 2002 at 3:13 PM mail:

nessun serio incidente per ora in Argentina

In spite the governmen´t campaign predicting acts of
violence and looting, the first day of the two-day
actions planned to mark the first anniversary of the
overthrow of De La Rua government lapsed without any
serious incident.
-----
-----
5,000 piqueteros and members of the CTA and its front
group of unemployed marched on Plaza de Mayo where
they held a rally. Among the speakers were De
Gennaro, head of the CTA, and the piquetero leaders JC
Alderete and Luis D'Elia. There were few members of
the CCC, the unemployed group of the PCR present at
the Plaza. The CCC organized roadblocks elsewhere in
Greater Buenos Aires.
-----
-----
Around 1,000 people, mostly members of some
neighborhood assemblies and left parties organized in
the morning of the 19 the so-called "Urban Picket"
blocking traffic and throwing paint containers against
financial institutions in Downtown Buenos Aires.
Among the political parties present were the PTS, the
group Venceremos, few members of PO and some from
Izquierda Unida (MST and CP).
-----
Cerca de 1,000 personas, mayormente miembros de
algunas asambleas barriales y partidos de izquierda

instituciones bancarias.
grupo Venceremos.
-----
Around 3,000 people participated yesterday night of
the "Awaiting" night with rock bands and dance and
many colorful banners at Plaza de Mayo. The event was
mainly organized by human rights groups, the youth
group of the CTA and others. The objective of the
event was to hold the Plaza until the arrival, today,
of the main contigents of piquetero organizations.

More than 1,000 people from piquetero and neighborhood
assemblies were protesting last night in front of the
President´s residence in the District of Olivos, in
the northern part of Greater Buenos Aires.
-----

-----
This morning, Puente Pueyrredon (Pueyrredon Bridge)
and other accesses to the Capital were blocked by
hundreds of demonstrators from the CCC/PCR.

The unemployed movement known as MIJD (led by Raul
Castells), the Bloque Piquetero Nacional (PO, CP and
others), the Coordinating Body Anibal Veron and the
Movement Barrios de Pie organized contigents coming
from the capital that started to arrive yesterday to
the outskirts of the City.

Aires.
-----
All these organizations are concentrating and marching
separately but they will meet in front of the National
Congress this afternoon and, from there, they will
march on Plaza de Mayo at 6 PM.

Some of the organizers expect between 50-60,000 people
in the main event in front of the Government House.
-----
Todas estas organziaciones estan concentrandose y

More radical groups like Quebracho, MPR20 and others
