The Second International Assembly to prepare The Mediterranean Social Forum in Barcelona 2004
The 4th, 5th & 6th there will be in Naples the second international assembly to prepare The Mediterranean Social Forum that will be in Barcelona in March 2004. The idea to build this Forum born in the European Social Forum in Florence the last November and it is inside the process to extend the Movement in other regions and continents. The Mediterranean area concentre inside of itself some the prior misbalanced and conflicts generated by the international capitalism of the last years. The neo-liberal recipes applied in a generic way in all the countries’ area will find their realization in the project of creation of a new ‘free exchange area’ called “Euromed” by 2010. Against this project that help only the development of goods and capitals circulation just to make a terrible international competition to improve the interest of ‘masters’ in the euro-Mediterranean “macro-region” it is necessary to globalise the struggles and the resistance. In the south side like the north one of Mediterranean area the privatisation of enterprises and public sector destroy the social and work rights, the authoritarian regimes of the north Africa and the east side of the Mediterranean become every time more huge basins of natural resources and low cost labour. The social movements and the people of the Mediterranean area oppose themselves to the permanent war and to the neo-liberalism will meet each others in this three days to show how is real the idea that another Mediterranean (sea and area) is possible.
