Mujahideen Tighten Grip On Fallujah; US Plans Fresh Offensive

The US forces are rumored to be planning to send fresh troops into Fallujah in an effort to take back control of the city following several days where they were forced to give up ground to the Mujahideen. According to our sources, additional troops are expected to be deployed to the war torn city early next week along with US airpower.
On Thursday Mujahideen continued to engage US forces in sporadic fighting throughout the city. The US military expect that more Mujahideen will filter back into the northern part of Fallujah, still held by the US, along with the civilian population as they return to the city. Increased support for the Mujahideen is expected when the returning population see that their homes have been leveled to the ground.
It is curious that the US in considering a fresh offensive just as refugees are returning. The increased number of civilians in the area will mean that there will surly be an increased in civilian casualties in any new offensive.
Captain Tom Tennant of the 1st Batallion, 3rd Marines said."Right now it's hard enough, but when you inject a bunch of civilians into this city it's going to be that much harder," Tennant said, warning of a campaign of daily bombings. "These guys are just going to filter back in.
"They know what they're doing, when things change, and they're just going to wait until we're at our weakest point and hit us again," said another marine.
A fresh US incursion appears to be in response to Mujahideen ability to retake many parts of the city, forcing the Americans to retreat from some neighborhoods. On Wednesday Mujahideen tightened their grip by taking contol of the road to al-Habbaniyah that extends west from the al-Fallujah bridge at the western end of the city and US forces are now subjected to bombardment, a fact that has compelled the Americans retreating from the city to take small branch routes and paths through farm fields in their effort to get the US military vehicles out of the city and back to their al-Habbaniyah base.This has not proven entirely successful either, for the Americans, as the Resistance had planted mines and bombs along those paths. Resistance fighters destroyed four Abrams tanks, three Bradley armored vehicles, and three Humvees on Wednesday as US forces tried to evacuate them to the base.
There is currently no American presence in the west or southwest of the city. At the time of this filing, Fallujah is relatively calm, with only sporadic fighting reported.

Fierce Clashes In Fallujah Wednesday, Thursday; US Withdraws From The Amiriyat

US forces took a heavy hit on soldiers and hardware late Wednesday when one of their command posts on the as-Saddah Road was subjected to a Mujahideen bombardment. In a dispatch posted at 9:50pm Mecca time Wednesday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Resistance fired three Grad rockets at the command post located between the al-Jawlan neighborhood and the al-Azraqiyah village area west of the city. Three US Bradley armored vehicles and four Humvees were reportedly destroyed.
Fierce fighting raged for several hours between Mujahideen and US Marines south of from 8am until 5:45pm Wednesday. The fighting was concentrated around the ash-Shuhada’ and al-Jubayl neighborhoods. Exchanges of artillery and rocket attacks on both sides ended with neither making ground.
Fighters destroyed a US Humvee that was carrying three US Marines in the as-Saddah area in the southwest of Fallujah according to Mafkarat al-Islam. Three US soldiers were reportedly killed in the attack and a Nissan pickup truck in which eight Allawi “national guards” were riding was also destroyed. It is expected on all board that vehicle were killed.
In the clashes, Mujahideen from outside Fallujah were among the fighters, indicating that the American ring around the city is now weak enough that Mujahideen can penetrate it.
US Forces Withdraw From Amiriyat Al-Fallujah
US forces have now completed their withdrawal from ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah, which they had begun at 10pm Tuesday night. Their pull out came after Mujahideen inflicted heavy losses on them and their British and Iraqi counterparts. ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah lies 10km east of the city of al-Fallujah and has been the staging area for resistance attacks on the rear lines of US troops assaulting the city.
Mafkarat al-Islam’s correspondent in the city reported that US troops expected the Mujahideen in ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah to stay within the city and allow the Americans to besiege and attack them. But the Mujahideen, learning a lesson from Fallujah’s experience, took the battle of ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah to the outskirts of the town forcing the Americans to go through the town to the battle theatre.
The Americans brought in 80 armored vehicles, nearly 70 Abrams tanks, and about 100 Humvees as well as 20 British tanks and 45 Nissan pickup trucks and 10 Kia trucks belonging to the Allawii “national guard.” The US troops and their allies met no resistance as they passed through ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah, but were then hit with heavy fire from outside to the east of the city. The Americans were compelled to call in air support but that did not arrive until they began to withdraw from the town.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent noted that US forces pulled out an unorganized one and that this was not a tactical retreat but rather forced, due to heavy fire.
