Translation of search warrant issued by the Procura della Repubblica (Public Prosecutor) regarding indymedia italy

DECREE OF LOCAL SEARCH WARRANT

In relation to the Acts of procedures Nos. 17621/01/44 regarding violence carried out in Genova on the 20th and 21st July 2001 on the occasion of the G8 Summit committed both by the protesters and against the protesters (having regard, amongst others, to the criminal episodes which took place in the central streets of the town, as well as those which took place in the Diaz-Pascoli school and Pertini).

See note No. 46/61 of the 26.1.2002 of the R.O.S of the CC. of Genova.

It is noted that by means of the consultation of the internet site “Italy.indymedia.org” it results that ”Indipendent Media Center – Italia” sent on the net and by post photo/video material acquired by private people and referring to the demonstrations in Genova on the occasion of the G8 Summit.

That, with a view to taking investigative action with regard to the penal proceedings following the criminal acts which occurred in Genova in July 2001 on the occasion of the G8 Summit, to whomsoever these may apply, and to allow a complete reconstruction of the events as well as the identification of the people responsible, it seems necessary to acquire the aforementioned photo/video documentation collected by “Indipendent Media Center – Italia”.

That, from the news gathered from the above mentioned internet site, it results that the aforementioned documentation to be researched and acquired, appears to have been taken and collected from, amongst other places, the “CSOA Gabrio”, whose offices are at 3 Via Revello, Turin.

That the aforementioned photo/video documentation is pertinent to the crimes for which investigations are being made by the Public Prosecutor in Genova and are indispensable to the verification of the facts.

IT IS DECREED

To proceed with search warrants with regard to “CSOA Gabrio” whose offices are in 3 via Revello, lRutin, and also any other place where such material may be available.

To arrange that copy of this order shall be sent to the party concerned and advising them of the authority to be assisted by trustworthy persons in such a way that this is immediately available and suitable according to art. 120 c.p.p.

To be arranged that the things which are discovered to be pertinent to the crime in the course of the search should be confiscated, whilst observing art. 259 and 260 c.p.p.
