[it]E' pronto e a disposizione on line la prima produzione video indymedia sulle giornate di Genova. Ed e' solo il primo!!! [en] The first Indymedia Video Production on Genoa days is on line and ready. And it's only the first of a long series!!!

[it] Indymedia finalmente realizza il progetto che da lungo tempo aveva in cantiere. Mettere a disposizione on line versioni completamente fruibili dei video prodotti, conseguentemente alle battaglie sulla libera circolazione dei saperi che da sempre la vedono protagonista.
Per ora a disposizione il primo video prodotto su Genova, un antipasto rispetto al lavoro piu' complesso su cui la comunita' internazionale di indy sta lavorando: Aggiornamento #1 (in italiano).
E' ora disponibile anche la versione inglese, il video la La zona Rossa sulle quattro giornate di Napoli a marzo e Rebel Colours. A breve saranno disponibili Living Proof (un breve montaggio veramente incisivo), e molte altre produzioni video.
In questa prima release abbiamo inserito:

• primi giorni: bomba al Carlini (centro accoglienza "disubbidienti")
• pink block
• venerdì 20, sabato 21: arresti, violenze della polizia, lavoro dei sanitari del GSF
• la morte di Carlo Giuliani
• sabato 21: sensazioni dal corteo
• il raid di sabato sera alla scuola Diaz e al centro stampa G.S.F. (Ampliato in un clip a parte, gia' incluso nei video che stiamo inviando a tutti coloro che ce lo stanno chiedendo: Update #1.1)

Stiamo aprendo alcune "finestre" sui giorni di Genova. Mano a mano che il materiale si rende disponibile, viene visionato e organizzato per nuclei tematici. I public forum, i no-border, le piazze tematiche, il corteo dei migranti, i "black block", il corteo dei "disubbidienti" etc etc, sono le "finestre" delle prossime release.

COME SCARICARE IL VIDEO
Con connessioni da ISDN in giù può essere una buona idea usare un programma che permette lo scaricamento a pezzi (puoi staccare quando vuoi e riprendere dopo senza perdere quello che hai già scaricato).
Per Windows potete utilizzare GetRight, mentre per Linux vi consigliamo caldamente wget.
Altrimenti, se si decide di scaricarlo direttamente dal browser, conviene cliccare sul link con il tasto destro, scegliendo dal menu "salva oggetto [o link, su netscape]" per poter scegliere dove salvare il file evitando che si apra automaticamente il player (windows media player o programmi per la visualizzazione di AVI) che scaricherebbe il file in qualche anfratto dell'hard disk.
E' inoltre possibile scaricare il file via ftp collegandosi con un qualsiasi programma per fare ftp a ftp.autistici.org come utente ftp e password qualsiasi e andando nella directory video.

COME VEDERE IL VIDEO
Una volta scaricato l'AVI prova a lanciarlo. Se il player non lo visualizza quasi sicuramente è perché non hai installato il DivX, un codec piccolo e free che permette al player (per esempio windows media player) di visualizzare i file AVI codificati in DivX. Alla pagina http://www.divx-digest.com/software/index.html#essential si trovano le versioni per tutti i sistemi operativi.
La versione autoinstallante per windows è scaricabile direttamente da qui.
Una volta scaricato il file basta lanciarlo e seguire le istruzioni

[en] Indymedia has eventually realised the project it worked on for a long time, ie on line distribution of completely enjoyable versions of our videos, consequently to the figth for a free sharing of knowledges and information we always supported.
At the present moment the only video already online is the first indymedia video production on Genoa days, an anticipation of the more complex movie on which the international media activist communinity is working: Release #1 (in english).
Now it's also available the Italian version of Release #1, a video on Naples and Rebel Colours. In a short while we will distribute also Living Proof (a short but really cool video) and many more!!.
In this first release you will find footage on the following subjects and in the following order:

• Early days: bomb scares at Carlini stadium (the centre where the "Civil Disobedience" movement was located).
• Friday 20: Pink Bloc action at the Red Zone perimeter fence near Brignole train station in the north of the city.
• Friday 20 and Sat 21: arrests, police violence, GSF paramedic teams in action
• Friday 20: the death of Carlo Giuliani
• Sat 21: High intensity action from the peaceful march as it is attacked by police nr Piazza Kennedy
• Sat 21 late evening: The police raid/attack on Diaz School (where protesters were sleeping) and Pertini School (where the GSF / Indymedia offices were based). (This clip has been worked through a lot, and its new version is included in the VHS video tape we are sending all around the globe: Update #1.1 (in Italian)).

As a team we have begun the process of editing materials gathered from a huge group of video-makers. This video is just a 'taster' on the whole series of events which unfolded in Genova in late July: The public Social Forum; No-Border / Migrant demonstrations; Piazzas (Squares) where themed events took place; Black Bloc action; "Civil Disobedience" demonstrations and so much more. More releases are expected over the next few weeks - watch Indymedia for the latest information.

HOW DO I DOWLOAD THE VIDEO?
WIth ISDN or lower rate connection it can be a good idea to use a software which allows you to split up the download in several sessions (you can stop at a certain point and begin again from where you stopped without losing any data).
For windows you can use GetRight, while for Linux we warmly suggest you the use of wget.
If you decide to download it directly through your browser, we suggest you to click on the link with the right button, choosing "save link as" from the menu, to decide where to put the video and avoiding the automatic opening of your pc's player which will send your file in the deepest place possible on your hard disk ;)
It's also possible to download the file via ftp, connecting to ftp.autistici.org through any client software, using user ftp and any password as login and going to video directory.

HOW CAN I SEE THE VIDEO
Once you download the AVI file try to run it. If you player do not show it correctly, it's because you don't have the DivX codec installed. It's very littl and free, and helps your player showing the AVI file we prepared. You can find version of this codec fot any operating system in this page.
The autoinstalling version for windows it's directly downloadable from here.
Once downloaded you only have to run it and follow the instuctions.
Mac version of the DivX CODEC can be found at the address http://mac.divx.st/.
