OAXACA PIANGE I SUOI MORTI - A MEXICO CITY COLOSSALE MANIFESTAZIONE A SOSTEGNO DEI RESISTENTI - 31 ottobre 2006 - Perché Ruiz non lascia? Secondo un'analisi del sito argentino Telam, la ragione va ricercata a livello nazionale. Oaxaca è governata da 80 anni dal Pri. Secondo la Costituzione, se un governatore abbandona il mandato prima di due anni, il potere passa nelle mani del primo senatore federale di quello stato, che dovrà convocare nuove elezioni. A Oaxaca il primo senatore federale è del Prd: la formazione di sinistra guidata da Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador, il candidato presidenziale che ha contestato i risultati delle ultime elezioni. Se il governatore Ruiz rassegnasse le dimissioni prima dei due anni, il Pri teme di perdere lo stato di Oaxaca, che già nelle ultime elezioni ha dimostrato la volontà di un cambio (con la vittoria del Prd). Se invece Ruiz resisterà fino ai due anni di mandato - spiega Telam - sarà lo stesso partito al governo (il Pri) a scegliere il successore.
