Friday, 4 March 2005.

Al-Anbar Province.

Ar-Ramadi.

American troops kidnap pregnant woman from hospital in ar-Ramadi, say husband wanted.

US troops raided a women’s hospital in ar-Ramadi on Thursday night, arresting a woman patient while she was being treated by doctors.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that ar-Ramadi is unique in the country in that it has hospitals specially for women.  They were set up at the urging of religious leaders who appealed for such facilities to President Saddam Hussein.  Hospitals exclusively for women allowed women to feel more comfortable seeking medical care and therefore encouraged a rise in health care standards in the city.

The correspondent reported that on Thursday night US forces stormed into the women’s hospital and arrested one woman in the maternity ward, claiming that her husband was a high-ranking leader of the Iraqi Resistance in the city.

Ar-Ramadi Residents said that the American troops had set aside millions of dollars in rewards  for anyone who could help them arrest that Resistance fighter, but no one had stepped forward.

Witnesses to the abduction said that the Americans received tips from their agents saying that the wife of that Resistance commander was in the local hospital, so they raided the facility and arrested the woman straight from the hands of doctors and nurses.  They drove away with her to a US base for interrogation.  The witnesses said that at the time of her abduction, the woman was under anesthesia.  In his report posted at 3:25pm Friday afternoon Mecca time, the correspondent reported that the woman had as yet still not been released and her fate remained unknown.

After the outrage, the correspondent wrote, the mood in the city of ar-Ramadi was like a seething volcano.  Fighting was expected to break out as average residents were ready to join Resistance fighters to attack the American occupation troops.

US releases abducted woman after Resistance bombardment on al-Warrar base.

In a dispatch posted at 5:40pm Mecca time Friday afternoon, the correspondent for Mafkart al-Islam in ar-Ramadi reported that Iraqi Resistance forces mounted an intense bombardment of the US al-Warrar base lasting for three solid hours on Friday.  About forty 120mm mortar rounds blasted into the base beginning after midday Friday congregational prayers in the city.  The bombardment continued until the correspondent filed his report.  Dozens of columns of smoke could be seen rising from within the American-occupied facility, as the thunder of powerful explosions shook the area with such force that they drowned out the voices of preachers at the Friday services.

After the bombardment got underway, the puppet so-called “Iraqi army” announced that the Americans had released the woman whom they had abducted Thursday from the maternity ward at the local woman’s hospital, in very serious condition, as she had begun profuse bleeding.  The puppet troops brought the woman back to the woman’s hospital from which she had been kidnapped the day before.

Sources in the puppet army said that the woman was released after the Resistance began its intense bombardment of the camp.  They said that the commander of the puppet “Iraqi army” had advised the Americans to release the woman because if they did not, ar-Ramadi would “become a fiery inferno for the Americans and for his puppet forces” as well.

Near ‘Ar‘ar on the border with Saudi Arabia.

Resistance bomb kills four US troops near Saudi border Thursday night.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded next to a US patrol near the ‘Ar‘ar area where it was observing and preventing people from slipping over the borders that separate Iraq from Saudi Arabia.  Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the explosion destroyed an American armored vehicle and killed four US troops.

The correspondent in the area reported local tribespeople and Bedouin as saying that the bomb was planted in the middle of a dirt road at the border checkpoint complex on Thursday and that the blast took place at 9pm Thursday night.

It should be noted that the residents of the area requested Mafkarat al-Islam to post a correspondent in the area because, they said, US forces were sustaining heavy losses in Resistance attacks in that area that went totally unreported since the area is remote and difficult of access.  Local eyewitnesses reported that on average five or six Americans were killed in the border area every day.  They added that the US forces forbid the use of cameras and call to account anyone found with one.  They confiscate cameras and on some occasions also arrest the owners of the cameras in order to make sure that they keep a tight lid on what goes on in the area.  Portable telephones with the ability to take pictures have also been banned recently, they reported, according to Mafkarat al-Islam.

Al-Qa’im.

Eight US troops reportedly killed in Resistance car bombing of checkpoint in al-Qa’im.

In a dispatch posted at 7:35pm Mecca time Friday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while before an Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a US check point on the al-Karabilah Road west of the city of al-Qa’im on the Syrian border.  The correspondent reported eyewitnesses as saying that the blast left more than 13 killed, all of them gathered ant the checkpoint.  An officer in the Iraqi puppet forces, however said that only eight were killed in the attack.

The puppet officer also said that three US military vehicles were completely destroyed in the attack.

Baghdad.

Diyala Province.

Al-Mundhiriyah.

Resistance shoots down US Black Hawk helicopter near Iranian border.

In a dispatch posted at 10:50am Mecca time Friday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, Iraqi Resistance forces shot down a US Black Hawk helicopter at a border compound in the city of al-Mundhiriyah on the frontier with Iran.

The correspondent in the city reported that  the Resistance fired a SAM-7 surface-to-air missile at the US Black Hawk when it came down to a very low altitude in Wadi Halyus.  Witnesses said the helicopter exploded in the air before hitting the ground, killing the crew.

US forces and Iraqi puppet border guards were at the time of writing still searching for body parts of the crew members strewn around the rough and rocky terrain.

The correspondent wrote that in addition to the difficult terrain, the work of the Americans and their stooges was further complicated by torrential rain that was pouring down and hindering the effort to find the body parts, even though the Americans were using devices to aid in detection and search.

Ba ‘qubah.

Resistance pounds US base near Ba‘qubah, silencing American radio station.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired 18 mortar rounds and Grad rockets into the main US base just north of the city of Ba‘qubah, capital of Diyala Province, at 3pm Friday.  The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the bombardment blew out the US radio that broadcast warning announcements and various US military communiqués to the local people.  The American sending station also jammed every other radio station in order to force the people of Ba‘qubah to listen to them alone.

The correspondent reported that the radio station, which had been set up three months previous, was totally destroyed, silencing the station and ending the jamming of other radio signals.

Witnesses reported US helicopters flew over the base for a long time after the bombardment, evacuating a number of bodies of dead American troops.

Ninwa Province.

Tall ‘Afar.

Iraqi Resistance car bomb destroys US checkpoint, killing eight American troops in hated detachment.

An Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter slammed an explosives-laden car into a US checkpoint in the western part of the city of Tall ‘Afar northwest of Mosul at about 8:20am Friday morning Mafkarat al-Islam reported.  The correspondent wrote that the blast destroyed one US Humvee and killed eight American troops and wounded a number more.

The correspondent reported that the commander local puppet rescue service in the city said that a car bomb driven by a Resistance fighter (whom he called a ‘terrorist’ in keeping with Zionist and American propaganda) drove past concrete barriers (behind which the US troops hide) into the checkpoint inspection area and blew himself up, killing eight US troops and wounding at least another six.  Also killed in the attack were two collaborator translators.  In addition to destroying one Humvee the bomb destroyed a large quantity of US weapons, equipment and technical observation, detection, and monitoring devices.

The American checkpoint was used for searches of cars coming to Tall ‘Afar from Mosul or the al-Ba‘aj, Ba‘shiqah, and ad-Dibs areas.  The Americans there were disliked by the local population for their particularly abusive and intrusive behavior towards local citizens.  Their behavior was so bad that women from the city completely stopped going out of town after the checkpoint was set up, since they harassed women entering or leaving the city.  One pregnant woman died in childbirth recently because she refused to go through the American checkpoint to Mosul Hospital at night out of fear of the Americans intrusive searches.

The correspondent described the checkpoint now, after the attack, as completely destroyed.  Those troops who survived evacuated the post after the bombing.

Mosul.

Resistance car bomber kills 11 American troops.

An Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded by a US military column in the middle of Mosul at 11:30am Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.  The correspondent said that the blast destroyed a US Zil troop transport vehicle and killed 11 US soldiers.

Witnesses told the correspondent that an Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove the explosives laden car into the US column of 14 troop transports, Humvees, and armored vehicles.  The blast occurred in the al-Islah az-Zira‘i neighborhood of downtown Mosul.

The Zil vehicle that was destroyed has a capacity of 12 US troops.  Eleven were killed in the attack on Friday.

Witnesses said that US forces fired warning shots and then opened an intense hail of gunfire fire on the approaching martyrdom car as it raced towards them but it did not stop.

The body of the martyrdom fighter was found, the correspondent reported, a whole hour after the US troops left the area after evacuating their dead and wounded.  The fighter’s body was completely charred and lacerated.  Local people took him to a mosque and then buried him in the martyrs’ cemetery.  But US troops later arrested the person who hauled the body of the Resistance fighter to the mosque, claiming that he knew the man and was connected to the attack.  The Americans also attacked the cemetery, driving onto its grounds and over graves with their armored vehicles.

At-Ta’mim Province.

Kirkuk.

Resistance blasts US base in Kirkuk airport with heavy mortar bombardment.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired twenty-one 120mm mortar rounds into Kirkuk Airport, a facility that the US military has occupied and turned into one of their largest bases in northern Iraq.  The bombardment targeted the eastern part of the airport in which the US command headquarters is located.  Also present there is a committee of American specialists who supervise the export of Iraqi oil from the city as the US occupation endeavors to plunder the country’s natural resources.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that that after the bombardment he met one of the Iraqis working in the airport, an engineer who stays with the US occupation troops.  The engineer reported that the bombardment inflicted very heavy casualties in the American ranks, killing and wounding dozens.  A large number of buildings in the US headquarters were destroyed.  The bombardment totally demolished a large reception hall.

Witnesses confirmed to the correspondent that the bombardment sent unprecedentedly large plumes of smoke rising into the sky over the facility.  People outside hear the thunder of the explosions going off within the American base along with the wail of sirens.  More than 12 US helicopters came in to evacuate the dead and wounded.  They came in hovered and landed and took off continuously for two solid hours, witnesses reported.

Northern Iraq.

Turkey deploys 1357 troops in northern Iraq.

The Turkish Minister of Defense announced that his country had deployed 1,357 soldiers in the north of Iraq in order to deter Kurdish attackers targeting Turkey, the Anadol News Agency reported.

Turkey has watched with concern the rising power of Kurdish chauvinists in northern Iraq under the umbrella of the US occupation.  Ankara regards northern Iraq as part of Turkey’s sphere of influence and repeatedly violated Iraqi territory prior to the American invasion in 2003, ostensibly to attack Kurdish guerrilla groups.

Salah ad-Din Province.

Samarra’.

Municipal council of Samarra’ dissolves itself, resigns en masse.

The local puppet governing council in the city of Samarra’ announced its resignation and the dissolution of the council on Thursday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.  The local correspondent reported a now-resigned member of the council said that the group had gathered in plenary session attended by all members on Thursday outraged at the fact that US occupation forces did not respect the council and went so far as to attack and beat one of the councilmen.  The Americans had promised that if the council urged local young people and citizens not to attack the Americans, they (the Americans) would rebuild the city and provide work and a guaranteed livelihood to the unemployed, but the Americans failed to fulfill those promises, the former council member said.

He said, “we reached the conclusion that the jihad had not stopped in Samarra’ against the Americans regardless of what was happening and regardless of what some people said about the need to halt military operations against the occupation.”  In response, the council resolved to dissolve itself and all members submitted their resignations en masse.

Another former councilman told Mafkarat al-Islam, “the young people won’t stop the jihad so long as the Americans are in Iraq.”

The Samarra’ council was set up after the Battle of Samarra’ late in 2004 it was authorized to set up a committee called the Committee on Coordination and Negotiation to mediate between local people and the occupation.

Sources in the puppet police in Bayji, 200km north of Baghdad, reported that an officer in the puppet police directorate was abducted by Resistance fighters who stopped his car on the main road linking the town with Mosul, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.  The sources said that a puppet police patrol deployed on the road after receiving information that people had seen the abductors driving two cars and that they left the area in the direction of Mosul.
