La situazione è più calma adesso, più calma rispetto a ieri, almeno. Non udiamo il suono di aerei sopra di noi, né quello di missili, ma la tragedia continua. Le famiglie bloccate nel sud della Striscia, principalmente nel quartiere di Tal el Hawal, teatro di forti scontri ieri, stanno cercando di scappare. Raccontano che gli israeliani hanno occupato numerosi edifici dopo averli bombardati. Da questi edifici prendono di mira non solo militanti di Hamas, ma anche civili. Queste case appartenevano a palestinesi che hanno dovuto fuggire. Molti padri di famiglia sono stati presi prigionieri. Il mio autista ha perso il fratello, la moglie e due figli. Un altra mia funzionaria ha perso il marito. Abbiamo cercato di chiamare anche le scuole, dove bambini sono rimasti feriti. Tutti coloro che abbiamo conatattato parlano di orrore e distruzione. Nella scuola della parrocchia ho ospitato alcuni insegnanti musulmani che hanno perso le loro famiglie. Abbiamo dato loro un letto, cibo e coperte. Sono rattristato perchè non possiamo dare loro ciò che vorremmo, i rifornimenti sono tagliati, vorrei comprare altri letti ma dove, dato che tutto è chiuso?.
Dovranno passare la notte in condizioni difficili, è insopportabile. E’ tutto bloccato, nessuno esce più di qui, nessuno può raggiungerci con scorte e rifornimenti. E’ un crimine contro l’umanità, gli israeliani stanno tentando di farlo passare come un atto di eroismo da parte di Israele. Ma non è con la guerra che prepariamo la pace. Non è attraverso la distruzione che costruiremo il nostro Paese. Non è con l’odio che guadagneranno la loro sicurezza. La sua sicurezza Israele potrà garantirla solo dando sicurezza ai palestinesi, i loro vicini. Siamo rimasti sconvolti ieri quando Ban Ki Moon si è detto dispiaciuto della sorte del prigioniero israeliano Gilad Shalit. Si tratta di un prigioniero, del quale il Segretario generale Onu ha chiesto la liberazione, senza nulla dire riguardo ai 12 mila palestinesi nelle carceri israeliane, riguardo al diritto dei palestinesi di difendersi. Non ha detto nulla dell’occupazione, dell’assedio che Israele esercita da 60 anni sui Territori. Gaza non è solo una prigione per un milione e mezzo di abitanti, ma un grande zoo, dove siamo trattati come animali.
I razzi palestinesi hanno ucciso 12 israeliani dal 2000. I missili israeliani, oltre a colpire gli uomini di Hamas, uccidono gli innocenti, distruggono le loro case, le infrastrutture. Quando a scuola un bambino colpisce un altro gli si chiede: perchè l’hai fatto? Se i miliziani di Hamas colpiscono Israele, e gli si chiede il perchè, potrebbero rispondere: perchè siamo sotto assedio, sotto occupazione, siamo umiliati, maltrattati. Ci si preoccupa del trauma che gli israeliani subiscono per il lancio di alcuni razzi, ma le sofferenze decennali dei palestinesi? Le sofferenze di un milione e mezzo di persone sotto pesanti bombardamenti? Loro non sono forse traumatizzati? Non c’è proporzione tra il delitto e il castigo. I palestinesi vengono trattati come schiavi, vengono uccisi. Qui, tra la schiavitù e la morte non c’è nulla nel mezzo. A quale divinità appellarsi? Gli israeliani hanno il dio che protegge i soldati, il dio della guerra. I palestinesi il dio della jihad, la guerra santa. I cristiani hanno il dio padre di Gesù Cristo, il dio del perdono. Quale di queste divinità vogliamo pregare e adorare? Non lo sappiamo. da peacereporter
